Our Advocate Team
We have qualified/trained professionals who can accompany you to medical appointments, ask questions, explain concepts/reasons for choices of treatment and give you peace of mind about your health and wellbeing. Your support can be for a short period and specific or ongoing.
Our Role
Practical support:
Helping with building an ongoing relationship and engaging with a medical team/doctor
Help you with a list of medical resources and provide education
Help relieve confusion or conflict between you and your treating team
Ask essential questions on your and your carer’s behalf with your permission
Ensure you and your support network understand the advice and information given by your treating team
Help you arrange a second opinion if you are worried about the information given by your doctor or another service provider
Help you book specialist appointments
Emotional support:
We can follow you to your medical appointments
We can contact your carers, doctors, nurses, and yourself, to make sure you are receiving satisfactory medical support reliably
We can provide tailored service to your needs via face to face, telephone, text messages, or email
Remember, our team does not decide for you and your support people.
We have to give guidance, explain confusing or overwhelming information, help
You, through a trying time, suggest alternative options of care or look at various ways to manage chronic pain or disease.
